Brescia [ENA] The public of Brescia, composed of curious onlookers and passionate fans, turned out in force along the roads travelled by the classic cars, protagonists of the 37th historic re-enactment of the “most beautiful race in the world”. The flypast of Italian Air Force Frecce Tricolori aerobatic team flying Aermacchi MB 339 A PAN aircraft colored the grey and foggy sky with its green-white red smokes over the starting grid.

The 1000 Miglia 2019 has taken off from Brescia. The 430 cars of the "Freccia Rossa", after the official control in Piazza Vittoria, took off at 2:30 pm from Viale Venezia heading towards Desenzano, to then proceed towards Sirmione, the Parco Giardino Sigurtà of Valeggio sul Mincio, Mantua, Ferrara, Comacchio with its channels and Ravenna to reach Cervia-Milano Marittima in the evening.

The most represented auto manufacturer at the race is Alfa Romeo, with 44 cars, followed by Jaguar with 35, Fiat with 33 and Mercedes-Benz and Lancia with 29. The most represented country continues to be Italy, with 303 crews (34% percent of the registered participants). The Netherlands come in second place with 133 citizens (133 Netherlands, 52 Belgians, 12 from Luxembourg), followed by Germany with 86 partecipants and the UK with 74 partecipants. The magic of the race, that will fascinate Italy for the coming four days, focuses attention once again on the timeless design of the cars that wrote the history of the automobile world between 1927 and 1957.

And not only: also acting as protagonists are the 130 cars produced after 1958 participating in the "Ferrari Tribute to 1000 Miglia" and in the "Mercedes-Benz 1000 Miglia Challenge", reserved for the mainly modern cars of the two Producers. «We’re finally here, the 1000 Miglia 2019 has taken off with the great enthusiasm and concrete support of Brescia and its citizens. We are sure that we will live the same passion and excitement along the 1801 kilometre route of the most beautiful and picturesque roads of Italy.

The 37th re-enactment of the 1000 Miglia, the most beautiful race in the world, takes place from Wednesday the 15th to Saturday 18th May 2019. Respecting the tradition that commenced in 1927, the route starts and ends in Brescia, crossing half of Italy in four laps, before and after the turning point in Rome. With its ability to combine tradition, innovation, creativity, elegance and scenic beauty, the 1000 Miglia is a symbol of Italian excellence around the world. Since 2013, the event has been staged by 1000 Miglia Srl, a company fully owned by the Automobile Club of Brescia, which founded it for this purpose in 2012.
